Dr.-Ing. Michael Bolle was a member of the board of management of Robert Bosch GmbH.

He was chief digital officer and chief technology officer, he was responsible for the corporate sector for research and advance engineering as well as the corporate IT sector. His responsibilities also included the Bosch Software Innovations GmbH subsidiary and corporate technology coordination and engineering methods.

Prof. Dr. Moritz Helmstaedter is the Managing Director of the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research in Frankfurt.

His work aims at pushing the frontiers of Connectomics, an emerging research field occupied with mapping neuronal networks in the brain at unprecedented scale and resolution. His interests lie in the relation between artificial and biological intelligence, and the search for connectome phenotypes of psychiatric disorders.

Prof. Frank Hutter is the Head of the Machine Learning Lab at the University of Freiburg. He is also a consultant at the Bosch Center for AI (BCAI) as Chief Expert for AutoML.

His research focuses on various problems in the fields of AutoML and deep learning, including meta-learning, learning to learn, neural architecture search, efficient hyperparameter optimization, and Bayesian optimization.

Dr. Jeff Schneider is a research professor in the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University.

His research interests are in machine learning, artificial intelligence, reinforcement learning, robotics, and sensing across science, government, and commercial applications.

Prof. Dr. Max Welling is a research chair in Machine Learning at the University of Amsterdam and a VP Technologies at Qualcomm. He also has a secondary appointment as a senior fellow at the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR). Additionally, he is member of the board of ELLIS (European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems).

His research interests are in machine learning, computer vision, statistics and physics. He is the co-founder of “Scyfer BV” a university spin-off in deep learning which got acquired by Qualcomm in summer 2017.

Prof. Dr. Melanie Zeilinger is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering at ETH Zurich, Switzerland where she leads the Intelligent Control Systems Group.

Her research interests include safe learning-based control, distributed control and optimization, with applications to robotics, energy and human-in-the-loop systems.

Prof. Alp Kucukelbir is chief scientist at Columbia University and Fero Labs and an expert in machine learning and probabilistic programming.

He has published multiple papers with David Blei and Andrew Gelman. He is also an adjunct professor of computer science at Columbia University. Alp received his Ph.D. from Yale University, where he won the best thesis award. His research focus is on approximate Bayesian inference algorithms.

Dr. Alexander Waibel is a Professor of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh and at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany. He is the director of the International Center for Advanced Communication Technologies (interACT).

His research interests focus on the implementation of statistical and neural learning algorithms.

Rafael Laguna is Founding Director of Germany's agency for disruptive innovations, SprinD, and CEO of open source software company Open-Xchange.

SprinD, which stands for “Agentur zur Förderung von Sprunginnovationen”, is a new public fund that helps finance large-scale, moonshot innovation projects that are failing to attract private investment or venture capital due to the level of funding or risk involved.
